Going to the supermarkets can be a bit frightening right now and feels like you are in a dystopian nightmare. There are guards on the doors, large queues, tannoy reminders to stay apart and frequently bare, ransacked shelves. Meanwhile, many independent shops are still operating, delivering or have their shop doors open. These shops are in danger of closing without custom and yet they can offer people a pleasant alternative service to supermarkets, with quality food and drink.
You might be surprised to know how many local shops can still deliver to your door. Each of them is grateful for your custom and needs it to survive. Unlike the major stores, they are under more pressure to keep going. When the Covid 19 days are over, and let us hope that time comes as soon as possible, we’ll want to know that the surviving shops are not just the supermarkets, and that the smaller independent retailers and services are still there for us all.
In future blogs we can show you exactly what kind of quality products and services the independent stores are capable of and if you engage with local businesses, it’s likely you’ll discover some mealtime pleasures, fresh groceries and much more, whilst dealing with the challenging times we find ourselves.
